Tropentag 2026 explores how multi-functional agro-ecosystems can contribute to a sustainable and climate-resilient future. The conference addresses the complex challenges facing agriculture, food systems, and rural livelihoods in the context of climate change, biodiversity loss, increasing resource scarcity, soil and land degradation, and environmental pollution.

The contributions examine the interconnections between agricultural development, environmental change, food security, and rural development, with a particular focus on the Global South. They consider ecological, social, economic, and political dimensions of sustainable development, including population growth, urbanisation, global inequalities, migration, and growing competition for natural resources.

As an international platform for research and exchange, Tropentag brings together scientists, early-career researchers, practitioners, policymakers, and students. The volume provides insights into current research approaches and strategies for sustainable agriculture, food security, natural resource management, and resilient agricultural and food systems in the tropics.
