The increasing share of virtual development methods in industry raises the question of the extent to which the results obtained with virtual methods correspond to those of classical methods. Ensuring reliability of assessment and decision-making in virtual environments is a fundamental prerequisite for the use of virtual methods in the development process. To answer this question, visual and haptic perception in virtual and real environments was investigated. The results show that the quality of the virtual environment is sufficient for it to be used in the development process. Furthermore, measures for the further development of VR systems can be derived from the results.
