Electrical energy is becoming increasingly important in motor vehicles due to its versatility of use and very good controllability for implementing novel functions. A prerequisite for its use is reliable and efficient provision by the vehicle’s electrical power supply system. This requires intelligent energy management that coordinates the power flows within the energy system using suitable strategies.
This work systematically examines the two design objectives of reliability and efficiency in the development of electrical energy management strategies. The individual objectives and measures are described and assigned on the basis of the energy flows and chains of effects. One focus is the control of load changes in the vehicle electrical system. In order to make statements regarding the efficient generation of electrical energy, the energy conversion chain is investigated using analytical methods and with the aid of simulation-based optimisation. A further focus of the work is the consideration of the application of economic models for energy coordination. The theoretical foundations of microeconomics are compiled, and possible functional structures of a one-sided and a two-sided allocation mechanism are compared and evaluated. Finally, experimental investigations of load change behaviour on a vehicle electrical system test bench and the integration of an energy management system demonstrate the practical relevance to the real system.
