This book contains a collection of approximately 4,000 words, terms and expressions in “Hildesheimer Platt”. The author collected these words and terms between 2007 and 2009. They are taken from the Low German literature published in the Hildesheim region over the past 100 years.

In this second edition, alongside a pronunciation guide in the International Phonetic Alphabet, a German–Low German dictionary is now provided in addition to the existing Low German–German one. Also included are word collections on selected subject areas, extensive verb tables and a large number of Low German stories, likewise in “Hildesheimer Platt”. The stories are either by the author himself or appeared in the “Gerstenbergsche Zeitung” of 1928 and 1929. Four stories each come from the author Inge Busche, Borsum, and the author Walter Flieger, Betheln; in this edition Anneliese Kirchhoff from Barfelde also contributes three stories. The stories describe, in a matter-of-fact and sometimes humorous manner, life in the village communities of the rural Hildesheim region.
