Political developments require an increased protection for pedestrians in city traffic. This dissertation thesis presents a solution proposal for classification using radar sensors. The signal processing of automotive radar sensors is extended by a systematic analysis of the radar echo signal and a classification process. It is distinguished between echo signals from pedestrians, vehicles and fixed objects. All results are validated experimentally, thus can ensure substantial suggestions regarding the development of radar sensors for pedestrian protection in the automotive field.
