This thesis contributes to a more rigorous modeling of the specific interfacial area in bubble column reactors through selected measurements at the laboratory-scale using the endoscopic measurement method which was further developed within this work. The new approach effectively complements correlations with global parameters. This in turn enables a more precise prediction of the specific interfacial area for the design and scale-up as well as for numerical simulations.
