In the joint research project “e-home Energieprojekt 2020” (duration: 07/2011 to 06/2016), the changing tasks and requirements placed on power grids arising from the integration of decentralised generation plants and additional loads in electrical distribution grids were investigated.
This sub-report examines battery storage systems in single-family homes in combination with PV systems from a technical and economic perspective. The various usage typologies are compared on the basis of the self-consumption rate and the self-sufficiency rate, and the return on investment is calculated. Subsequently, on the basis of a survey conducted, the incentives that are decisive when purchasing a battery storage system are analysed. The survey distinguishes between battery storage owners, solar system owners and inexperienced respondents.
