This book demonstrates how a radar sensor operates in the field of traffic monitoring, with particular attention to the object tracking of individual radar objects. This radar sensor is stationary and monitors a fixed section of road. The study examines to what extent the radar sensor’s object tracking would benefit from using information about the observed road courses in the filtering process. To this end, a method is presented showing how this information about the road courses can be determined from the radar data itself during an installation phase and then used, resulting in an improvement in object tracking.
