Few technologies polarise Germany as much as nuclear power. Despite the nuclear phase-out, the nuclear age is not over, and the question arises: how can a just approach to high-level radioactive waste be achieved?
Lucas Schwarz undertakes a paradigm shift away from established theories of justice and operationalises Bruno Latour’s modes of existence in order to investigate the perception of justice from an individual perspective. Drawing on two comprehensive empirical studies and the analogy of a ‘map of justice’, he reveals the characteristics of perceptions of justice and provides a model for explaining differences – based on societal aspects, individual values, emotions and one’s own stance.
