In recent years, digitalisation has not spared the financial industry either. With the growing dependence on digital technologies and the associated cyber risks, the need for robust regulatory frameworks has become indispensable.
The European Commission has responded to this with various regulations, including the Digital Operational Resilience Act (hereinafter: DORA), the draft Financial Data Access Regulation (hereinafter: FIDA-E) and the AI Act. In contrast to DORA and FIDA-E, the AI Act is not addressed solely to financial undertakings. Nevertheless, the AI Act contains a number of separate provisions for financial institutions and is therefore the subject of this master’s thesis.
The regulations listed aim to ensure digital resilience, open access to financial data and the responsible use of artificial intelligence (hereinafter: AI) in financial undertakings, and confront them with the challenge of implementing numerous new requirements and, in the course of this, possibly even of creating new organisational structures.
