Aufbau und Charakterisierung eines abstimmbaren, einfrequenten, ytterbiumdotierten Faserlasers (English shop)

Martin Engelbrecht (Author)

In the near-infrared wavelength range around 1 µm, lasers based on ytterbium-doped silica fibres are ideally suited for generating tunable laser radiation. The gain spectrum of the ytterbium ion in silica glass has a width of more than 200 nm, while the use of diode lasers as pump sources allows the realisation of highly efficient, compact and reliable beam sources. They are therefore of great interest particularly in optical metrology and spectroscopic gas analysis. The subject of this work was the construction and investigation of a single-frequency, tunable, pulsed laser system with high peak power based on ytterbium-doped silica fibres. It opens up applications in optical spectroscopy, in particular in the infrared spectral range between 2.5 µm and 10 µm wavelength, since the peak power enables efficient frequency conversion. The system was realised as a multi-stage oscillator–amplifier system in which the generation of the narrowband signal was separated from pulse generation and power scaling.
