Within the scope of the present work, the rhodium-catalysed isomerising hydroformylation of oleochemicals was investigated. Of particular interest in this reaction is the migration of the double bond along the carbon chain, since the thermodynamically unfavourable terminal isomer must first be formed prior to the hydroformylation reaction. For a better understanding of the reaction, the pure isomerisation of the double bond was first investigated and the results were subsequently transferred to the isomerising hydroformylation. Methyl oleate and oleyl alcohol were used as oleochemicals.
