This volume contains three examination theses on the topic of constructivist didactics, written within the special educational focus area of physical and motor development at the Department of Special Education and Rehabilitation at the University of Cologne. Within the scholarly debate on didactics, approaches of this school are gaining increasing influence. In this context, critics in particular not infrequently fail to recognise that there is no such thing as the constructivism, but only different theoretical variants and interpretations with highly divergent didactic implications for the design of teaching. Reservations about constructivist didactic positions – irrespective of the respective interpretations – frequently arise from the understanding of teaching and learning processes in the classroom and of their initiation and support by teachers, which differs from traditional ways of thinking. For example, the fundamental assertion that the relational aspect of learning is superordinate to, or at least on a par with, the content aspect has not previously been formulated with such clarity.
