This book is an empirical study that was begun in the context of a graduate research stay within a German-American exchange programme in the field of a medical-technological and pharmaceutical research complex at M.I.T. and Harvard University in Cambridge/Boston/USA, and was written as a dissertation at the Internationales Promotions-Colleg (IPC) of the social sciences at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main.
