“Beyond the Crystal Ball. A Reader on the Future and Its Past” is a monograph that, from a humanities perspective, examines in the form of a short reader the essential aspects generally associated with the future. The topics addressed include, among others, the question of the predictability of the future and the nature of innovation. The publication is designed to transcend professional boundaries, i.e. the author draws not only on the literature of his own profession but ventures to bring together ideas from the most diverse genres. Mechanisms of the 21st century are correlated with those of the past, in part also of the distant past, in order to fathom their nature and to present them as comprehensibly as possible.
