Crystallization is a key technology for separation and purification of substances as well as for product design in chemical and life-science industries. The book comprises 77 scientific contributions to the 23rd International Workshop on Industrial Crystallization (BIWIC 2016) held at the Max Planck Institute for Dynamics of Complex Technical Systems in Magdeburg/Germany from September 6-8, 2016. The contributions have been given as oral or poster presentations from scientists and engineers from academia and industry connecting fundamental and application-oriented crystallization research with industrial utilization. Main topics addressed were 1) fundamentals of crystallization, 2) separation, purification and formulation in life-science industries with applications in food, pharmaceutical and agrochemical sectors, 3) monitoring and modeling of crystallization processes and 4) crystallization for sustainability. The participants came from 20 countries all over the world.
