Civil aviation is subject to constant change, affecting airlines, airports and air traffic control alike. Seven contributions map the broad spectrum of current challenges and historical developments among the system partners in air transport. The contributions range from the airport business model, the changes and challenges facing air cargo and aviation distribution, through to modern remote tower concepts in air traffic control.

This Festschrift was produced on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the dual degree programme in Air Transport Management at the Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences. It offers a brief insight into the wide range of practice-oriented lectures held regularly as part of the Air Transport Economics lecture series by more than 50 lecturers from industry, on the history of aviation and on current issues in the field. The authors have worked in the aviation industry for many years and are additionally involved as lecturers or adjunct lecturers at the Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences.
