The aim of this work was to gain a fundamental process understanding in the field of the hot staking process for hook commutators. To this end, various aspects of the process were examined, such as the temperatures arising, the influence of the surface structure on joint formation, and the joint formation itself.
The main component, however, is the sequential process phase analysis, supported by further analyses of various cause-effect relationships. With the aid of an external measurement setup, it was possible to record process-relevant parameters time-synchronously and with high resolution. On the basis of these signal curves, five phases were identified within the total process time. The findings on the individual phases with regard to points in time, durations and characteristic features make it possible to optimise future process design, process monitoring and process control.
