In 2018, the Institut für wirtschafts- und rechtswissenschaftliche Forschung Frankfurt held its annual research symposium for the fifth time – an exchange between academia and practice on current challenges.

At this fifth research symposium, current research activities of members of the faculty were presented with the aim of promoting the transfer of knowledge between academia and practice. In 2018, too, the academic profile of the faculty and the institute was thus reflected in the keynote presentations, which are now available in written form in these conference proceedings.

This year’s contributions again cover a broad range of topics. For example, they provide insight into research findings arising from the IT revolution, such as the digitalisation of pharmaceutical logistics, cryptocurrencies, blended learning or “legal tech”. Questions of human resources are also addressed here, including sustainability in human resource management and surprising results regarding salary negotiations. The contributions in this volume thus once again convey an impression of the breadth, the high standard of quality, the interdisciplinary approach and the application orientation of research at the Faculty of Business and Law of the Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences.
