The Energie- und Wasserspeicher Harz project addresses the systemic consideration of coupling the energy and water sectors. Its core concern is the sustainable provision of system services combining drinking water abstraction, low-flow augmentation and flood protection with renewable energy generation, which could adapt water management in the Western Harz, with its multifunctional tasks, to climate change. In order to operationalise the various proposed measures, an assessment is carried out to rank them, making it possible to proceed with implementation by making use of the “low hanging fruits”.
