Study findings highlight the need for early prevention of lifestyle diseases. In response, a large number of projects aimed at promoting children’s health have been and continue to be implemented in schools and kindergartens.

The health-disadvantaged group of “children with intellectual disabilities” usually falls through the cracks of these efforts.

In order to remedy this deficit, this research project set itself the task of developing a concept that reaches all children – including children with intellectual disabilities – while taking new health promotion approaches into account. The research work includes the evaluation of the concept with regard to feasibility and effectiveness, with the aim of producing an optimised manual for carers and teachers.
