In this biography of her father, the author describes the consistent, fateful life path of the Berliner Dr. Heinz George, which unfolded over the historical period from the German Empire to the years after German reunification. He was a recognised expert in tax law in Berlin’s business circles of the last century. His “trademark” were the Berlin tax preferences. She illuminates this path, spanning from 1906 to 2003, from all the angles that shaped his life: Huguenot tradition, family, profession, political events and faith in God.

His life motto “I live in order to work” was formative from his youth onwards and remained decisive for him into old age, helping him to overcome harsh blows of fate.
