Harvesting of stalk crops in both Belarus and the Novosibirsk region is associated with substantial losses. The aim of this work was to counteract a largely unsatisfactory current situation by improving the processes and increasing product quality. The assumption to be examined was that the spiral swath and the treatment of green forage with microwaves and high frequency bring about a marked reduction in field drying times. A simple and low-cost method for determining compaction at the silo was to be developed. A number of further solutions were to be proposed for ensuring product and process quality. Above all, the transferability of the results to other Central and Eastern European countries was to be examined.
