In Germany there is nothing that moves people more than the automobile. Millions of people in Germany drive to work, to go shopping or on holiday every day. Millions of cars are newly registered each year and millions of people work in the automotive sector. And millions of drivers are getting older and older.
For precisely this reason, this work is devoted specifically to the driver of the Generation Plus. The aim is to identify technologies and possibilities of the kind this age group of drivers wants and needs, and which enable all of us to participate safely and lastingly in road traffic.
The first part examines the Generation Plus driver from various perspectives. General statistics and data on mobility are complemented by societal, social and financial aspects.
The second part presents the results of a survey. Twelve short questions were used to enquire about various topics of current and future relevance. The answers of the Generation Plus were considered in relation to younger age groups.
In the third part, the findings from the two preceding parts are used to develop proposed solutions. Scenarios are described for the environment, the automobile and the driver himself. In doing so, what is feasible today is deliberately exceeded.
