A company’s reputation has a positive influence on the success of innovations and therefore constitutes a central success factor, particularly for companies in the high-technology sector, which is characterised by a high level of innovation dynamics. However, the relationship between reputation and innovation in the high-tech sector has so far only been examined in rudimentary fashion. This applies in particular to the way in which the support of different stakeholder groups is shaped in the development of an innovation, which is illustrated by the example of optical technologies as a high-technology sector. On the basis of a causal-analytical study, Wiebke Kondering explores the composition of reputation in the high-tech sector as well as the influence of reputation on the various support potentials of the different stakeholder groups. From this she develops a wide range of practical recommendations for optimising reputation.
