This dissertation investigates the biological and agronomic characteristics of artichoke (Cynara spec. L.) as a medicinal plant, with particular emphasis on producing high-quality artichoke leaves for pharmaceutical applications. The research examines the potential of in vitro culture for haploid plant production, changes in pharmacologically relevant compounds during the rosette stage, and the effects of nitrogen fertilization on leaf yield and medicinal plant material quality. Particular attention is given to caffeoylquinic acids, flavonoids, and differences among plant genotypes. The findings provide a scientific basis for optimizing cultivation practices, harvesting times, plant breeding, and quality assurance in medicinal plant production.
