What are talents? How does exceptional performance come about? What options do primary school teachers have to foster their pupils’ individual talents in the best possible way?
Intelligence is a significant component of (cognitive) high or peak performance. Yet without self-motivation, perseverance and continuous training “on oneself”, even an intelligence potential regarded as high does not translate into high performance: “personality beats intelligence” (Karl-J. Kluge) is the motto.
This study sets out in search of factors that make it possible to foster individual talents in regular primary school teaching. Looks beyond one’s own horizon at models of giftedness support that are already succeeding are intended to alert the reader to the manifold possibilities available. This work focuses both on the teacher’s and the pupil’s personality as well as on successfully shaping relationships as the basis of successful learning.
Templates, checklists and practical examples round off the study and encourage the reader to “dare to enable talent”.
