The increasing pressure of time and cost in the automotive industry requires a reduction in the number of real test vehicles. As a virtual counterpart, driving simulators offer the possibility of subjectively experiencing and assessing vehicle characteristics. This work examines the potential of driving simulation for investigating fundamental vehicle dynamics questions. To this end, studies with test subjects in a real vehicle and in different configurations of a driving simulator analyse the significance of human perception in driving and assessment tasks. Validation is carried out by means of objective parameters of driver behaviour and subjective parameters of assessment quality in the evaluation of vehicle dynamics properties.
