The evidence of global warming makes environmental issues one of the major challenges that humanity as a whole is called upon to confront. While the crucial question of the relationship between human beings and their environment is thus gaining in scope, it must be acknowledged that it has always held a prominent place among the subjects that drive reflection in artistic works, particularly literary and cinematographic ones. The example most often cited in this respect is that of American literature, which not only possesses a long tradition of environmental writing, but has also given rise to ecocriticism, a discipline whose aim is to investigate the relationship between literature and environmental questions. Given the global character of the ecological problem, from which Africa is far from exempt, the research undertaken in this work sets out to explore the echo that this issue finds among African authors. In order to obtain a fairly representative picture of African approaches to the question, the analyses take into account two different genres, namely the novel and film, as well as two different regions, notably West Africa and Central Africa.
