With the real-time transmission system developed here (based on the SDR concept), this dissertation provides algorithm developers with a framework that allows algorithms to be implemented and tested in a real-time system quickly and with little effort. Owing to the system’s high scalability, MIMO systems can be set up without difficulty.
Using this system, the present work investigates the error susceptibility and the speed of AM transmissions with subsequent AMC.
The investigations have shown that transmission with AM and AMC exhibits a lower packet error ratio in the scenario used in this work than transmission with a constant modulation order on the subcarriers (including channel coding).
Furthermore, the measurements demonstrated that, for the algorithms employed here, the modulation classification error probability is lower than the packet error probability arising from incorrectly decoded bits. These measurements thus confirm the results of simulations.
In addition, this work presents an optimised modulation algorithm which, in the scenario used, achieves a speed increase of approximately 40 % with only a slightly increased modulation classification error probability.
