Electronic correlations and quantum fluctuations in one-dimensional solids lead to a new physics quite different from the one existing in the higher dimensional world. Using electron spin resonance spectroscopy we identify the dominant sources of spin relaxation in several one-dimensional spin systems (α’-NaV2O5, TiOCl, η-Na9/7V2O5). A special emphasis is put on the anisotropic parts of exchange interaction between spins.
