This dissertation describes a largely structure-independent approach to energy management in hybrid powertrains. Based on cost functions for the energy delivered, the load distribution between the storage device and the internal combustion engine is carried out online by means of energy trading.
By way of the mean value of the energy stored in the battery, the algorithm adapts to different driving cycles and drivers. The approach was implemented in the longitudinal vehicle dynamics simulation developed for this purpose and validated on the powertrain test bench built for it at the same time.
The work is rounded off by an examination of the foreseeable limits of individual mobility and an estimate of the efficiency potential of further developed powertrains. It concludes with notes on the application of energy management together with an emission-oriented thermal management system for the internal combustion engine.
