The volume “Gesammelte orthodoxe theologische Studien” presents a selection of recent essays reflecting concrete results of research in the field of Orthodox Theology at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität in Munich. These are primarily studies from the field of Biblical Theology, namely texts situated in the area of Eastern Church exegesis and reflecting the profile of early Church patristic as well as Orthodox interpretation of Scripture. This is done either through the theoretical treatment of patristic-Eastern interpretation and its relationship to the historical-critical method, which is regarded as the main tool of Western exegesis, or through the practical application of Orthodox interpretation to selected passages of the New Testament. In addition, some essays concern neighbouring fields such as patristics, hymnology and the art of the Ancient and Orthodox Church, as well as aspects of the Orthodox liturgy, whereby the field of ecumenism also emerges in the background of particular studies.
