This book is aimed at pupils about to embark on a course of study with a high mathematical content. By revising important parts of school mathematics while at the same time introducing the structures of university mathematics, it bridges the gap between school and university that causes difficulties for many first-year students. Particular emphasis is placed on learning and applying various methods of proof.

The book can be used to accompany a preparatory course in mathematics, as offered in many places. Thanks to the numerous exercises with model solutions, however, it is also suitable for self-study.
